European Mobility Week
European Mobility Week (EMW) is a European initiative aimed at improving the environment and living conditions in the community. The event encourages local authorities of European countries to introduce and promote sustainable development of transport and encourage citizens to try alternative transport means. EMW occurs annually in the end of September.
European Mobility Week, which was first held in 2002, covers more and more countries every year, and not only in Europe. 7717 projects were executed. These form bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, “calm down” traffic, make transport affordable and the public aware of environmentally balanced use of transport means.
In 2015 in Lviv European Mobility Week was held for the fifth time already. It’s been supported by the project “Municipal Development and Rehabilitation of the Old City of Lviv.” Every year this event in Lviv is dedicated to a different topic in the field of sustainable mobility.
