The training courses for carpenters and joiners are focused on the restoration of historical entrance doors and windows.
Between 2009 and 2012, the project has conducted 12 such courses, during which the following objects were renovated: the entrance doors of Nos.1 and 39, Katedralna Square, and No.40, Rynok Square; the two entrance doors of Lviv’s School No. 21; the windows of No.1, Koliyivschchiny Square, and those in the classrooms of Schools Nos. 21 and 24. In addition to on-site experience, trainees are offered seminars and workshops on historical window and door paintwork and finishes, how to design and install missing timber components, how to improve the energy efficiency of historical building elements, and how to increase work efficiency and improve business management.
Many trainees have gone on to successfully establish their own restoration companies, and the best of the trainees have the opportunity to offer their services to participants of the project’s co-financing programme for window and door renovations.
