Funding program on courtyards improvement
Note! The funding program on inner courtyards improvement is closed due to the completion of the project.
In 2012 the Ukrainian-German cooperation project “Municipal Development and Rehabilitation of the Old City of Lviv” in cooperation with Galytska District Administration and Heritage Department at Lviv City Council have initiated the Program promoting improvement of the courtyards.
Yards improvement and arrangement is an important step to enhancement of living conditions in a confined space of the historic old city, where free space, playgrounds and quiet open air places are limited. Courtyard with proper water supply, quality pavement, benches and green lawns provide comfort and become places for meeting and interaction for house residents.
In the framework of the mentioned program the Competition has been started on a yearly basis. It was held in December and the winners ususally were 3-4 houses located in historic downtown. For them the yard improvement was arranged.
Work funding:
GIZ Project – 90% of total amount
City participation (district administration) – repair of sewage systems, etc.
Residents – 10% of total amount (but not more than 1000 Hryvnia per apartment)
For those who cannot participate in the mentioned funding program but strive to change something in their yard A self-help guide to improving shared courtyards has been issued in 2015.
