Strengthening Awareness and Participation

Raising citizens’ awareness of the importance of urban renewal and their involvement in the process strengthens their sense of responsibility for the city in which they live. This is crucial to the rehabilitation and conservation of the world-recognized historical inner-city of Lviv.

The project therefore carries out numerous public relations exercises aimed to promote this sense of responsibility: it holds public events, mounts exhibitions, issues publications, distributes brochures and flyers, places posters and light boxes in public places, posts information on the internet, and so on.

The project also encourages citizens to participate actively in the renewal process. Owners and residents are directly involved in project pilot measures, residents’ associations are promoted, citizen initiatives are supported, citizens’ forums are organized to discuss and suggest measures in their neighbourhoods, and so on.
